Spend a week of marimba and vibraphone music with Ivana, Emmanuel and their friends. The seminar is intended for performers and teachers of all ages and nationalities.
As active participant you will have individual and chamber music lessons with Ivana and Emmanuel. You can attend masterclasses, presentations and concerts and play on the Students concert. Be sure to attend evening concert with Emmanuel Séjourné!
As passive participant you can attend all lessons, presentations, masterclasses and concerts. You are very welcome to participate with your thoughts and comments.
In order to meet your needs Ivana & Emmanuel would like you to write a short biography, a selection of works (solo and chamber music) or particular issues you would like to work on.
IVANA BILIĆ, Zagreb (Croatia) is one of the most distinctive marimba voices. Known for her versatility, she appears as soloist with major orchestras and participates in crossover projects. Ivana regularly gives masterclasses, participates in marimba festivals and serves as jury member at marimba and percussion competitions in Europe and USA. Her marimba and vibraphone pieces have been published by Malletworks and Cantus. She will participate in ZMF New Music for Marimba Project as one of the few marimbists to premiere and record the commissioned works. Ivana is a Marimbaone artist, her signature line of mallets has been launched in March 2008.
EMANNUEL SÉJOURNÉ, Limoges (France). World famous vibraphonist and marimbist, jazz musician and composer, author of several “must” pieces for marimba and vibes. After classical music studies at the National Conservatory of Strasbourg (piano, violin, musical history and analysis) he is introduced by Jean Batigne to the world of percussion, particulary in contemporary and improvised music. After studying percussion, he specialized in keyboard percussions; vibraphone and marimba. Since 1981 he has been active both as composer and performer. He was nominated Pedagogic Adviser to the French Ministry of Cultural Affairs and he is also Head of the Percussion Department of the Strasbourg Conservatory.
